Core Beliefs
1. Bible
The Bible is God’s Words spoken to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because God inspires it, it is the truth without any mixture of error.
(II Tim. 3:16-17; II Pet. 1:20-21; Prov. 30:5; I Thess. 2:13; Rom. 16:25-26)
2. God and the Trinity
God is the creator and ruler of the universe. He is a caring and involved God and desires to have relationship with us. While God is merciful, He is also just. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.
(Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; I John 5:6-8; John 15:26; Gen. 1:26; Exod. 34:6-7)
3. Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus is both divine and human. Born of a virgin, He lived a sinless human life, offering Himself as the payment and perfect sacrifice for the penalty of the sins of all people by dying on a cross. Jesus arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again.
(Isaiah 7:14; Isaiah 53:6; Matt. 1:21-23; John 1:1, 14; John 10:25-30; Phil. 2:5-8)
4. Man
People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has the tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called "sin". This attitude separates people from God, causes many problems in life, and keeps people from having an ultimate relationship with God.
(Gen. 1:26-31, 3:1-7; Rom. 3:23; Rom. 6:23; Rom. 12:21; John 14:6)
5. Salvation
Salvation is God’s free gift to us. It cannot be earned or deserved, and we must choose to accept it. We can never make up for our sins by self-improvement or good works. Only by transferring our trust from ourselves for security to a trust in Jesus Christ alone as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith, we are saved from eternal separation of true relationship with God. It is God’s will for all believers to walk in continued obedience to His Word and ultimate relationship with Him. (Isaiah 45:17; Ps. 118:14; John 14:6-14; Rom. 10:9-10; Eph. 2:8-9; Heb. 9:22-28)
6. Prayer/Worship
A lifestyle of Prayer and Worship is the foundation of an active Christian life. A Christian’s first and greatest command from God is to love Him with all our heart, all our soul, and all our mind. Ministry to the Lord comes before ministry to people, and one’s “first love” should be for Jesus. The works of Satan are stopped through prayer and praise. Both praise and prayer is a calling given to every believer, and it is up to the church to worship Him and pray His will into the earth.
(Is. 43:21; Ps. 34:1-7; Jn. 4:23-24; Matt. 22:37-38; Matt. 16:19; Luke 10:19)
7. Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ, providing the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The full completion in the Christian of the experience of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is displayed both by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Holy Spirit leads and by the manifestations of various spiritual gifts, or expressions of spiritual power in public testimony and service, given to us through the Holy Spirit.
(Gen. 1:2; Joel 2:28-29; Matt. 28:19; John 15:23-27; Acts 1:5-8; I Cor. 12:1-11)
8. Healing
Divine healing is the privilege of all Christians and is given to Christians because of Christ's death on the cross. It is part of the Covenant Promise from God for all believers, as well as one of the spiritual gifts given to believers through the Holy Spirit.
(Ps. 103:2-3; Isaiah 53:5; Mark 16:17-18; I Cor. 12:9, 28; James 5:14-16)
9. Water Baptism
Baptism by immersion symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and is your public declaration that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. Baptism does not save you, but shows the world that you have already been saved. And while baptism is not required for salvation, it is a biblical command and demonstrates your love and obedience to Christ.
(Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 2:38-41; Acts 9:17-18; Rom. 6:3-8)
10. Eternity
Heaven and hell are places of eternal existence, and people were created to exist forever. This eternal existence will either be an empty and dark existence separated from God by sin and totally isolated from ultimate relationship (in Hell), or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation experiencing the fullness of an eternity of true life through Christ and relationship with God (in Heaven).
(Matt. 5:3, 20; Matt. 25:41; John 3:16; John 14:2-4; Heb. 9:23-28; Rev. 20:12-15)
11. Marriage/Family
Marriage and family are sacred institutions ordained by God. Marriage is a covenant union between one man and one woman and intended to be an everlasting covenant. A husband and wife are to cherish each other and nurture their marriage and their family as gifts from the Lord. Children are a gift from God and should be raised in and taught the ways of the Lord by their parents.
(Gen. 2:20b-24; Col. 3:18-24; Deut. 7:12-15a; Rom. 1:18-2:11; Ps. 128:3-4)
12. Sanctity of Life
We believe in the sanctity of human life from the moment of conception to the time of death. All human life is precious in the sight of God.
(Ps. 127:3-5; Ps. 139:13-16; Jer. 1:5; Luke 1:41-44; Jn. 10:10)
